Dating can be intimidating. The whole goal of it is to impress someone enough for them to want to see you again. Although dating can be difficult, especially if you haven’t been on the dating scene in a while, there are a few tips to assure a great date.
SMELL GOOD AND LOOK GOOD
Smell is one of the most powerful of the five senses, and is very important when on a date. So, don’t hit the gym before your date without showing afterward. Contrary to popular belief, spraying copious amounts of body spray all over you won’t cover up that «just gym-d» smell. Be sure to shower before your date.
If you want to smell good, apply your perfume or cologne to the «heat spots» on your body such as your wrists, chest, on your neck, behind your ears and in the bends of your arms. Just be careful not to apply too much. When your body heats up, the fragrance will become more potent. Be sure to also dress the part for your date. Don’t wear ripped or torn clothes. Many dates include the classic dinner and a movie scenario. But, if your date wants to do something sportier, be sure to dress the part.
MAKE A GOOD FIRST IMPRESSION
First impressions are very important on a first date. Be sure to arrive on time or early at your date destination. Also, many people look for body language to validate someone’s approval of them. If you’re into your date, be sure to make eye contact, smile and engage in conversation with them.
BE YOURSELF
Don’t trick any man or woman into thinking you are someone you aren’t. Be true to yourself. You don’t want to find out later that he or she isn’t into you because you «changed.»
DON’T OVERSHARE
How many dates have been ruined by someone sharing too much information about their personal life or droning on and on about their ex? Keep the conversation friendly and get to know your date. Don’t bring up super personal information on your dates.
DON’T BE AFRAID OF BLIND DATES
Aside from yourself, your family and friends know you best. If they know someone they think would be perfect for you, let them set you two up.
ONLINE DATING
In the ever-growing digital world we live in, online dating has become the norm. When beginning, be sure to pick the correct online dating site for you. There are tons of sites that match people together based on their race, hobbies and religious beliefs. Do some research to find your perfect site. And remember, if you are meeting up for a date with someone you’ve met online, be sure to meet in a well-lit, public place and be cautious about people you have never met in person.
IF YOU DON’T LIKE YOUR DATE, MOVE ON
Look, so many people continue to date someone because they think they are cute or hot. Relationships are more than physical. If you don’t connect on other levels, you’re pretty much doomed. If you don’t connect, move on and start again!
